Investigation Derived Waste (IDW) is the water, soil and cuttings generated during drilling and sampling activities for the purpose of investigating an actual or potentially contaminated site. Proper management of IDW is essential due to the requirements of state and federal regulations. Nonetheless, this task is often time consuming and confusing.

On-Site Treatment
In some cases, waste may be treated on the project site to reduce its volume or toxicity. The treated material is then repurposed on the project site as backfill or capping material. Meet Nick De Leon, IDW expert
Nick joined Cascade as the Director of Environmental Services in 2012, and brings 20 years of environmental service experience including management and oversight of RCRCA TSDF facility operations, Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Landfill, Oil Processing and Refining, and Solid Waste facilities. He has extensive knowledge in waste handling, profiling, processing, permitting, and environmental regulations. Over the course of his career, he has obtained certifications in RCRA, DOT, OSHA, and CHMM.
